Dear Parent/Carer

I am pleased to invite you to our Year 5 & 6 Transition Open Day on Saturday 27th September from 10am-12pm. This will be a fantastic opportunity for you to tour our school site, meet staff and students and learn more about the breadth of opportunities on offer at the Marsh Academy. Choosing your child’s secondary school is such an important decision and our Open Day enables you to get a sense of our ethos and values and address any queries you or your child have about starting Year 7. I hope this will enable you to make an informed choice as to whether we are the right school for
your child.

Recent years have seen many students achieve excellent results at both GCSE and A Level enabling them to move on to Higher Education, apprenticeships or employment. Ofsted last inspected the academy in 2022, confirming it continues to be considered as a ‘Good’ school, but we do not feel that this is the best way to find out about what a school is like. More detailed information is available through our website www.marshacademy.org.uk. Perhaps though, what we are most proud of is that we are now consistently over-subscribed in Year 7, reinforcing that the local community consider us to be the school of choice for most children.

While of course our staff and students are rightly proud of the school we have become, it is important that, as a parent/carer, you visit the academy to decide whether you feel our school is the right one for your child. We have the most success with students whose parents share our vision and support us, whether through our behaviour and uniform policies, supporting students’ work at home or through the vast range of extra-curricular activities we are able to offer.

I could insert various quotes from Ofsted here, but instead I invite you to read the inspection reports for yourselves and share our statement of Values and Ethos, which can be found on our website, which I think is a more important reflection of the school we are and how we strive to support our students.

Doors will open at 10am, please come to the main reception when you arrive to register; this year we will be sending our prospectus and other documents electronically, so this is really important. Then you are welcome to attend a talk in the Theatre and tour the academy. Staff and students will be available for you to speak to as you look around.
