ABOUT THE COURSE

Although Languages are currently not compulsory at GCSE, studying a language will be great for your personal and professional growth as it can teach you a number of skills that you can use later on in your life. Today’s world is becoming more and more globalised and having gained language soft skills will make your application stand out to employers, universities or colleges, in particular your communication skill. It also promotes a certain intercultural understanding which can and will make you more aware of the different cultures in and outside of our community. Finally, it can help you if you want to travel, whether it is for a gap-year or for some travelling with friends and families.

We will continue to build our foundations of the language learnt at Key Stage 3 whilst exploring more exciting topics such as friends and family, the environment, jobs and careers, sports, holidays etc. Higher tier students will develop more complex language preparing them to undertake A level should they wish to pursue their language journey.
