Drama
Drama allows for many different interactions and contextual experiences. Its experiential nature allows students to address difficult and complicated issues, and gives them the opportunity to explore in-depth human interactions, within a safe and nurturing environment.
Knowledge and application of Drama leads to an enrichment of the whole student: experientially, culturally and socially.
Key Stage 3
Years 7 and 8 develop their understanding of the Elements of Drama (Genre, Plot, Character etc) using Drama Skills such as Still Image, Thought Tracking, Narration, Cross-Cutting and Role Play. They also study a variety of texts, both classic and contemporary, through the Medium of Drama including the use of Mask, Mime, Gesture, Space and Levels, Sound, Music, Lighting Voice and the use of spoken language.
Key Stage 4
GCSE Drama follows on from Drama work at KS3. Students use the skills they have learnt as explorative strategies to respond to ideas and issues, develop and communicate their ideas to an audience and evaluate the effectiveness of their own work and the work of others. They also continue to improve and enhance their performance skills and recognise the significance of historical, cultural and social influences on their own work and their performance repertoire.
