RED MINI-SCHOOL STUDENTS RAISE £1200 FOR DEMELZA HOUSE!

Students from Red Mini-School at the Marsh Academy were delighted to present Demelza House Children’s Hospice with a cheque for £1200 last week as a result of a year of fundraising.

Students raised the money using everything from bucket shaking and non-uniform days (when students went “Dotty for Demelza!”) to Easter egg raffles and a sponsored silence! Red Mini-School Student Development Leader Andrea Hutchens even completed the Three Peaks Challenge – climbing Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike in three days – to add more money to the pot!

Hayley Richardson, Community Fundraiser for Demelza House, attended the mini-school assembly to receive the cheque and to thank students for their hard work. Hayley also gave students a presentation showing what work the Hospice does, highlighting how the money students raised would help to support life-limited children and their families.

Red Mini-School Leader, Lesley Palmer, said “I’m so proud of the students and staff for all their hard work in raising money for this fantastic cause. We set an ambitious fundraising target of £1000, so to have exceeded that is a real testament to the enthusiasm that everyone in Red Mini-School showed towards the fundraising.”
