Students at Kent Marine Festival

On Friday 9th October the 6th form Public Services group visited the Kent Marine Festival. Buzzlines very kindly transported us smoothly and on time to the Dover Cruise terminal. The main aim of the festival was to increase awareness of employment in the marine and maritime industries and employers around Kent. As well as colleges and businesses specialising in maritime training and apprenticeships, the Army, Navy and Air Force all had a strong presence.

Other employers represented were the Coastguards, Customs and Excise and Immigration services. The festival featured a series of workshops and students were taken on a tour of a ship. They day was rounded off by us getting a ride on the Royal Marine simulator which mildly irritated a school from Thanet and made us feel sick!
