Seven singles matchplay matches took place between staff and students at Lydd Golf Club for the 12th Annual ‘Ryder Cup’ Challenge on Thursday. The staff were under pressure to perform as they had not won for the last 5 years and morale was very low!
Joe Edwards, student team captain, had Sophie and Oliver Daws at his disposal but they were his only trump cards, along with himself as the rest of his team struggled against a veteran staff team, spearheaded by Vice Principal, Mr. Russell Smith. Conditions on the day were a little windy to start but then calmed to perfect conditions to play golf in, apart from trying to avoid all the water!
The individual results are as follows with the staff coming out on top with an emphatic win 5 and a half to 1 and a half.
