Project Based Learning
Tuesday 13 January 2009
We have had a great start to Project Based Learning this year and I would like to thank all the students for their hard work and you at home for your support with the laptops and homework. The next project for PBL is called "Me, Myself" and will involve students creating an autobiographical video.
During this unit students will look at many topics, with particular focus paid to; Reproduction; Fitness and Diet and Genealogy.
The nature of this work will involve students investigating their family roots and interviewing family members. These tasks will be set as homework and will be outlined on the homework sheet given to each student at the start of next term. Just a reminder, if a student loses their homework sheet, it can be found on the school website www.marshacademy.org.uk and clicking on the link for homework.
Can I remind all Yr 7 students that they must bring their laptops to school every day. If it is not working, they must contact ITsuport@marshacademy.org.uk or take them up to the technicians‘ office during their opening hours for it to be repaired. Students may also require a pen drive to transfer work between school and home. A number of Year 7 students have done very well this term on Mathletics. In fact all the students should be congratulated on their efforts and they have received certificates. A Silver certificate is a significant effort!
Due to the success of Mathletics in inspiring students to enjoy mathematics in Year 7, we are now pleased to announce that Mathletics is being introduced into Year 8. For more information visit www.mathletics.com A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the PBL team.
